Learn more about the best anti-aging treatments at any age to discover if one of these non-invasive cosmetic procedures is right for you.
Anti-Aging Treatments Suitable for Any Age
Much like its ever-changing audience, the anti-aging industry is always evolving to keep up the pace. Between trends and bold claims, it can be overwhelming to keep up as a consumer. Trends will come and go, but these are the best anti-aging treatments that are proven to give real results at any age:
Microdermabrasion
This procedure promotes the growth of new, younger skin by stimulating collagen growth through physical exfoliation to trigger the body’s natural healing process.
Because microdermabrasion utilizes very fine, hard sand-like aluminum dioxide to exfoliate the surface of the skin, it is not recommended for those with certain types of hyperpigmentation or moderate-severe rosacea as it could potentially lead to more irritation.
Chemical Peel
Similar to microdermabrasion, this treatment exfoliates the top layer of skin to reveal “newer” skin underneath through the method of chemical exfoliation as opposed to physical exfoliation. These peels are used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, and other complexion concerns.
Cosmetic Laser Centers℠ currently offers 3 types of chemical peels: a superficial peel, a medium-grade peel, and a deep peel. The deeper the peel, the longer the recovery time will be and the more peeling and sun sensitivity you’ll experience. Contact Cosmetic Laser Centers℠ to schedule a consultation with one of our talented estheticians to discuss if a chemical peel is right for you.
Botox & Dysport
The two most widely used wrinkle relaxers in the country are BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®. Wrinkle relaxers are neuromodulators that work by temporarily paralyzing the facial muscles that cause wrinkles, and are often used to treat areas including frown lines between the eyebrows and smile lines around the eyes and mouth.
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® are very similar but have their subtle differences, and our trained providers will advise you as to which wrinkle relaxer will work best for you.
Spider Vein Treatments
Like varicose veins, spider veins are small blood vessels that can be seen through the skin and are very common on the thighs and legs but are known to appear on the face as well. There are a variety of factors that contribute to their development such as lifestyle, heredity, history of blood clots, prolonged standing, and hormones among others.
Sclerotherapy, the practice of injecting a solution directly into the vein to eliminate the appearance of spider veins, is a widely trusted method for the lower extremities. For the face, light or laser treatments are used to manage their appearance. Common treatments include IPL™ M22™ and Fraxel® laser resurfacing, both of which we will discuss more down below.
Multiple treatments are necessary for both facial and lower extremity spider veins with several weeks between each session. Minimal to mild downtime is required after, but each treatment has unique needs. Wearing a compression hose on the treated leg for a few days, avoiding sun exposure, and strenuous physical activities are all recommended after receiving sclerotherapy.
Laser treatments
Fraxel® DUAL and Fraxel re:pair® SST treatments are used to improve skin tone and texture, achieving a younger appearance without dramatic changes.
Fraxel® is a type of fractional laser; fractional meaning that for every targeted zone of skin being treated, there are areas of surrounding skin left untreated. These treatments produce thousands of deep microscopic treatment zones (MTZ’s), and by leaving the surrounding skin untreated, the treatment is much more tolerable than traditional full-field (non-fractional) laser treatments and also allows for a faster recovery.
This treatment is ideal for treating fine lines and wrinkles, surface scarring, pigmentation, sun damage, and Actinic Keratosis (AK).
Light-based Treatments
IPL™ treatments are proven to correct uneven skin tone and certain vascular lesions, such as rosacea and spider veins through the use of intense wavelengths of light.
These flashes of bright light are delivered in pulses that heat the surface of the skin just enough to stimulate its regenerative abilities, and boost collagen production. On average, three to six treatment sessions may be recommended and vary according to the severity of the condition being treated, and the patient’s desired results. With repeated treatments over time, patients are left with a smoother, more even skin tone and a more youthful complexion.
Radiofrequency devices
Thermage CPT® is a non-invasive skin tightening treatment that is designed to help restore and tighten the appearance of the skin by stimulating new collagen production.
As skin ages, collagen breaks down and leads to skin laxity and the appearance of sagging. The radiofrequency waves of Thermage® use heat to stimulate collagen production and can be used to treat wrinkles and loose skin on the face, around the eyes, and on the body. With its versatility and effectiveness, Thermage® is an excellent option for those looking for immediate, long-lasting results with little to no downtime for an anti-aging treatment.
