Fraxel® re:pair® uses an ablative type of fractional laser, and is designed to treat more significant fine lines and wrinkles, severe skin tone irregularities, and pigment issues. Fraxel® engineers advanced the application of traditional CO2 ablative lasers and made the re:pair® laser fractional so it only targets a “fraction” of the skin at a time. This change made treatments much more tolerable while dramatically reducing recovery downtime. This level of Fraxel® laser resurfacing could be an excellent option for patients looking to reverse signs of severe sun damage, age spots, finer lines and wrinkles.

Q: How do Fraxel® lasers work?
Fraxel® re:pair® uses a patented fractional carbon dioxide laser to penetrate thousands of tiny, microscopic columns of laser energy into the skin. This removes the damaged, old skin cells, but leaves the tissue surrounding each column intact. The laser stimulates your body’s natural healing process and replaces the destructed skin cells with more luminescent, fresh, healthy skin.
Q: How many Fraxel® laser treatments will I need?
A: For most people, one treatment provides desirable effects. However, some patients repeat the treatment in 8-12 months. Every patient’s experience will be unique.
Q: What is Fraxel® laser recovery like?
A: Downtime with Fraxel® re:pair® is typically more significant than that of the DUAL laser, and does require some wound care. Patients receiving the re:pair treatment will have to practice a strict wound care regimen for the first 3-4 days post treatment. No cosmetics are permitted for about five days. Most patients return to their normal appearance by 5-7 days; however, every individual is different.
