What do you know about Juvéderm®
Juvéderm® is a hyaluronic acid filler used to fill areas where fine lines and wrinkles or scaring is present on the skin. It is also used to add volume to other areas such as the lips, chin and jaw. Juvéderm® Ultra
Juvéderm® Ultra helps fill moderate lines, wrinkles and folds in the facial areas of the skin.
Juvéderm® Ultra can also assist with:
- Moderate lip filling
- Scarring
- Worry lines
- Smile lines
It is injected into the middle of the dermis to help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. This formula is effective for approximately 9 months, but has been known to be effective for up to 12 months. The length of time that the filler remains effective is dependent on several factors, such as skin’s elasticity and can vary from patient to patient.
Juvéderm® Ultra XC
The same formula and benefits of Juvéderm® Ultra, but with the addition of Lidocaine. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that will decrease the pain involved when receiving a dermal injection.
Juvéderm® Ultra Plus
Juvéderm® Ultra Plus is a thicker, more concentrated formula that lasts slightly longer than Juvéderm® Ultra, providing benefits for approximately twelve months. This formula is injected deeper into the skin to help fill more severe lines and wrinkles.
Juvéderm® Ultra Plus targets:
- Marionette lines (lines on the sides of the mouth in the shape of parentheses)
- Worry lines (located on the forehead)
- Naso-labial folds (located on the side of the nose, near the lip area)
- Smile lines (any and all lines that appear when smiling)
- Severe wrinkles (deeper, more dramatic wrinkles)
It can also add more dramatic volume to the lips than Juvéderm® Ultra and help with facial shaping and contouring.
Juvéderm® Ultra Plus XC
Juvéderm® Ultra Plus XC contains the same formula as Juvéderm® Ultra Plus, but with the addition of the local anesthetic, Lidocaine. This offers patients a more comfortable experience when receiving the injectable. Whether you go with the injectable with or without Lidocaine is specifically the choice of the patient. Some patients fair well with the injections without Lidocaine and have minimal discomfort. Having a formula that includes a local anesthetic provides additional options for patients, especially those that may be concerned about the discomfort of the injection.
Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC
Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC is a newer Juvéderm® product that was introduced to the market in late 2013. This product focuses on volume enhancement since volume loss is a common symptom of aging, especially in the cheek areas. Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC works to reduce the hollowed out appearance in the cheeks by providing more volume. Three areas of each cheek are injected into the deeper layers of the skin to produce a consistent and desired volumizing effect. This formula contains the local anesthetic, Lidocaine, and the results of the procedure can last up to two years.
